Aiming High short breaks are positive, enjoyable activities for a child or young person that also allow their family to have a rest from caring.
Aiming High may be able to help with:
* travel to the activity
* paying for the cost of the activity
* funding carers or sitters or arranging and paying for other support you might need to take part, such as special equipment or extra trained staff.

Derbyshire Carers Association – recognise that the responsibility of caring for someone who cannot manage at home without help often places great physical and emotional strain upon the carer.  They can help carers by providing information, support, advocacy and support groups all across Derbyshire.

Netmums - online parenting organisation with information ranging from child care to places to go to healthy eating. 

Parent Channel TV - online service designed to support and encourage parents and carers of children aged 5-19 with a collection of videos addressing day-to-day questions and concerns spanning wellbeing, behaviour and learning.

Changing Places - Standard disabled toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability – or their carers.  Changing Places toilets have more space than a standard accessible toilet and more equipment such as height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible.  For information about Changing Places in Derbyshire click here and for a map of the facilities click here

NetBuddy is the first online resource of its kind offering hundreds of simple, yet ingenious solutions to everyday issues encountered by parents, carers, teachers and therapists working with learning disability.

Crossroads - supports people who care for a person with care needs in Derby and South Derbyshire.  01332 344448

Parents at the Helm (Derby Path) - A group of parents and carers in Derby City whose children have disabilities.  They organise forums twice a year where parents and carers can get information from the people who make the decisions on services provided in the city.  derby.path@gmail.com

Derbyshire Parent Forums - Open to all parents of disabled children and those with Special Educational Needs, this is your chance to be involved in the planning and provision of services in Derbyshire. It will also give you an opportunity to find out more about local services. 01246 273154.
